County Louth
€85.00
County Louth, nestled in the northeastern part of Ireland, proudly features the St. Brigid's Cross in its crest, a symbol deeply rooted in Irish Christian tradition and folklore. St. Brigid, one of Ireland's patron saints, is renowned for her compassion and contributions to Irish Christianity.
The St. Brigid's Cross is a woven design, typically made from rushes or straw, and is associated with the feast day of St. Brigid on February 1st, which is also Imbolc, marking the beginning of spring. Legend has it that St. Brigid wove the cross while explaining the Christian faith to a dying pagan chieftain, incorporating elements of the surrounding pagan culture to make the teachings more accessible.
